You have to go to Jerusalem or your trip is a waste. It has been the center of the search for meaning  for well over 2000 years. Even if you take out the religious context the sheer cultural clash should give you enough answers to write a book. Have to go to Mecca as well, Muslim's make up about 20% of the world's  population. Then there's Constantinople, it was the center of world for a while. I would suggest Saudi as well to see a religious state and see that point of view.
