People like to relate religion to a meaning of life so I could venture
there for a moment. I've always considered myself a drifter in this field.
I was baptized Catholic but considered myself rejected (mainly by choice)
at a young age when I was informed by my Sunday school teacher that all
non-Catholics would spend eternity in Hell. My best friend at the time
happened to be Jewish, and I instinctively understood the power organized
religion can have, and that this power can be used for good or bad.
I now affiliate my beliefs with more Eastern traditions in spirituality. I
believe in reincarnation, karma and compassion. I have mixed beliefs,
though. I am the prime example of how nobody is entirely capable of
shedding everything they were raised around. I believe in the beauty of
Christian figures like Mary but believe so much of the Western world has
tainted religion with patriarchal translations and editing.
One of my passions in life is writing and the feminist part of me wants to
take to having strange lovers in foreign lands so I can write about them
and be discussed by women like myself in the years to come
(self-indulgent, I know). The other part of me wants to drive through
Darfur and the Congo and Myannmar and every other war-ravaged land until
people understand why they should love each other and listen to John
Lennon when he suggested that we all give peace a chance. Then another
part of me wants to learn Arabic and French and other lesser known
languages to become a prominant figure in UN peace talks. I want to see a
baseball game in Tokyo, eat bread & drink wine in Paris, hug a sea turtle
off the Virgin Islands, rebuild New Orleans pray to the gods and godesses
in a Buddhist temple in Cambodia and become a Supreme Court Justice to
secure women's rights to reproductive freedom in America.
I want, above all, to be myself entirely. And I never want to compromise
that for a plasma television or a two karat diamond engagement ring or
stock options or the perfect shade of blonde highlights in my hair.

This CW can't be too bright if he wants to pray to a god in a Buddhist temple.

I don't know, man.... The PERFECT shade of blonde highlights? You could have all the strange lovers you want with beautiful blonde hair. regardless of the meaning to life, you only have one, so i say go dye that dropping and get laid. A lot. then send them my way.

it doesn't help that when i posted the first response i thought that vincent had written the whole message. Now my post makes me look gay, like i want GUYS thrown at me. Suddenly, i realize that it would've been foolish for a guy to get blonde highlights. I really do fail to see the obvious some times.
